SALARY RANGE: $16.00-$18.00 hr

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
The Bilingual Crisis Intervention Advocate position is responsible for making the first contact with victims, survivors, and the general public regarding La Luz Bilingual Victims Services. The Bilingual Victim Advocate will help provide Trauma Informed, culturally appropriate services to Latino victims of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and stalking during Crisis Intervention: the Bilingual Crisis Intervention Advocate will offer Safety Planning, Assessments, Court Advocacy, Follow up, Education on Victim Rights Education and Community outreach.
Responsibilities
- To provide culturally and linguistically appropriate services for Hispanic victims of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and stalking
- Educate clients on Domestic Violence, Sexual assault and stalking
- Provide Education on victims’ rights, Victim Protection orders, victims compensation and VINE
- Develop individual safety plan.
- Carrying out assessments, referrals and follow ups
- Schedule Intakes for Case Managers
- Interpretation assistance
- Linkage and advocacy with the local school system to provide for educational needs
- Maintaining client records up to date and maintain client confidentiality at all times
- Participate in the crisis line on-call rotation schedule.
- Facilitating Spanish Support Group
- Develop and maintain Community resources in Spanish services
- Work with victims and clients by phone, in face-to-face meetings, or in hospital and court setting.
- On dates assigned will respond to SANE and DVNE Hospital advocacy
- May provide emergency transportation, when safe to do so and resources are available.
- Will attend weekly/biweekly/monthly staff meetings and case consultations
- Attend meetings and training as requested by supervisor
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Duties

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Bilingual Court Victim Advocate will help with providing culturally and linguistically appropriate services to Latino victims of Domestic Violence.The Bilingual Court Victim Advocate offers victims information, emotional support, and help to find resources and fill out paperwork. In addition, the advocate attends court hearings, tracks cases and keeps statistics, meets with attorneys and victims before trials and/or hearings, and attends meetings with outside agencies for collaborative purposes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- To provide culturally and linguistically appropriate services for Hispanic victims of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and stalking
- Informs victims about their constitutional and statutory mandated victim’s rights, as they pertain to the Criminal Justice System
- Work with victims and clients by phone, in face-to-face meetings, or in hospital and court setting.
- Developing individual safety plan and follow ups
- Submits request for court interpreter in victims behalf
- Informing clients/victims of their rights
- Educates individuals, staff, guardians, and community members.
- Develops and maintains appropriate reporting systems.
- Inform victims about their constitutional and statutory mandated victim’s rights, as they pertain to the Criminal Justice System.
- Assists in preparing victims and witnesses to testify at court hearings, explaining court process and proceedings, and advising them of the progress of their case.
- Accompanies and provides courtroom support for victims and/or witnesses.
- Explains court rulings, processes property release forms, and provides victims with appropriate referrals to follow-up services after sentencing.
- Provides case status and criminal justice information to victims and/or witnesses.
- Enters and maintains pertinent data and statistical records on victims served and services provided into designated computer systems/software programs.
